Circus how-to.

Whenever I can squeeze in a wee bit of time, I intend to write a few posts about how I put together Eleanor's little party, in case anybody liked the look and would like to recreate something similar.  That sounds like I'm being arrogant, but actually I just want to share...  That's what blogging's all about isn't it?!

I hunted far and wide for party inspiration, and came across a number of awesome printables and tutorials.  Oddly enough, I ended up abandoning all those ideas and coming up with my own designs, which was, after all, just perfect.  I wanted a subtle and old fashioned feel, and I couldn't afford all that colour printing anyway.

Old Fashioned Lemonade

These were easy, if a little time consuming.  The jars were collected from Eleanor's baby food (though jam jars would be perfect too!  We just don't eat that much jam and I thought the wee jars would be cute), and my sister and I coloured, cut and glued the labels by hand.  The straws were my single splurge item, and at approximately $11 for a set of 25, I think that's acceptable!  I bought them from online stationery store, Katydid Paper Goods Emporium .  Worth every cent...  The lemonade is actually only cordial (I know, why did I admit that?), as we were too constrained by time to make our own.  A shame really, because Zan can whip up a great lemon drink when he's feeling inspired...

Popcorn Containers

In a totally inspired moment I came up with this idea.  The containers are just Cadbury Hot Chocolate containers that I re-labeled.  Once again, the colouring part was a little time consuming, and unfortunately my homemade labels did not reach all the way around the container, but I love the way they turned out.  If you want to use these labels, go ahead and print them out... If the file isn't quite big enough (I still can't figure out how to attach PDF's) just leave me a comment and I will email them to you...

  1. Hmmm, do I dare steal a birthday idea for Freddy's first birthday next month? A circus is such a great idea. I love the tiny jam jar lemonades and popcorn boxes.

Maybe Frank and Dean should make some downloadable party invites?
