On a rainy afternoon...

For this adventure, we went on a short and sweet family date.  It was pouring down, so we drove to the top of a hill to eat treats and look at the view.  Well anyway, at least there was chocolate involved.  Our view was: rain.

On the way home Garland started hollering, and Eleanor tried her best to soothe him.  It began with "'S'all wight baby, shhh, 's'all wight..." which turned rapidly into, "STOP!  BABY. STOP. NOW!"  Meanwhile we frantically tried to shhh both of them and get home before things fell apart too bad.  I guess not all adventures can end as well as they start...

Check back later if you want to see what I packed in Eleanor's Traveling Distractions Bag.

A prettyish kind of wilderness

Today some friends dropped by for a visit, so we took them for a walk around this property.  I love rainy day walks, I do.  A year ago we were enjoying the exact same pastime in the same ladybug raincoat even.  I like thinking about how much our lives have changed since then.  We were living in the best rental we can afford, in an unattractive part of the city.  Our property backed onto a park, but not the romantic kind, with tall oak trees and a magical adventure playground.  A small, bare, boring park.  We were almost always the only people there.  Now we live in our own little park, and while we may be the only people here, we prefer it that way.

p.s. It was a total accident that both girls were dressed like Little Red Riding Hood.  Pretty cute coincidence though!  Particularly as we were wandering through the woods...

Ahhhh, Winter...

Freezing though it's been (I have two hot water bottles on me right now), we've been loving these crisp, clear Winter days...  I couldn't stop myself from snapping trillions of shots in that golden afternoon light.  It was hard to drag this little girl away from her cousins, but the promise of a bath was just enough incentive in the end...

And I finally finished off my busy bags for the busy bag swap...  Yuss!  Can't wait to see what I'm sent in return...  When things settle down I'm so gonna organise one of these - so much fun!
