Space Party Printables

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiinally.  Seems like it's taken a million years to get these printables ready to share.  The Solar System poster is my favourite and was fun to make.  We used it for a Pin the Martian game, and now it's tacked to the wall in the kids room.  The badges were fun too, and looked super cute on the kids.  I really wanted to laminate them and make them into lanyards, but time and resources were thin, so a little duraseal and a safety pin hot glued to the back.  Bam.  Done.

I hope you get some joy out of these.  If you're on facebook or insta and you use any of them, tag me in your pics so I can look!  Links for all the printables are at the bottom of the page.

Enjoy x

Free Printable :: Weekly Planner

Click on the image to download :-)

Happy Wednesday!  Here's a little beginning-of-term freebie I put together for y'all (and me).  I always start out with all the best intentions to stay super organised.  Who knows if this will stick.  I haven't purchased a diary this year - until they design a planner that holds only the months of January and February, it's all a bit pointless.  Anyway, we do need to keep track of things somehow.  For instance, I completely forgot a super important medical appointment, just last week, eeep!

This plus This

Earlier this month I reviewed some back to school labels from Stuck On You.  I had a bit of a plan in mind for their use, and at long last I have put a little of my time into this.  Kinda pretty much just a reward chart, but a little more specific.

The point of this chart is to help my students check out their progress and feel that mighty fine feeling of accomplishment as they draw closer to their/my goal (in some cases the goal may be a little arbitrary and the chart will be used to celebrate effort instead).  Pretty simple.  The charts will be pasted inside their work books and will (hopefully) be updated regularly.  That's the plan anyway...    Feel free to nick the image and print it yo'self if you think you could find a use for it.

Travel Party - Free Printables

Happy Friday everyone!!!  So I've been meaning to share these printables with you guys for ages, but boy have I been struggling to find time to blog lately.  I really love how these printables turned out, and I think you could probably use quite a few of them for a variety of party themes.  Links to downloads at the bottom of this post.

These drink labels are particularly versatile and have a bit of a 50's diner feel, which is what inspired the burgers and shakes.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of handing out lollies as favours, I couldn't resist designing this package label.  And the hot air balloon kit basically includes string, instructions for making a simple paper basket, and a balloon.

Let me know if you use any of these, I'd love to see pics!  x

Now do keep an eye out for a super lovely giveaway coming soon!  I can't wait to share it x

Learning new skillz

As some of you know, I recently won the Stuck On You category of a Creative Review challenge run in conjunction with Bloggers Connecting.  While most of the winnings went on the boring necessities of life (being self-employed really isn't as glamourous as you might suppose), I did make one small splurge and bought myself a very basic drawing tablet.  I have been wanting to try one of these out for.ever, and I have had so much fun already!  I can definitely feel the limitations of my particular tablet, but maybe one day I will be in a position to invest in a really great one.  Or maybe I'll be on to a new thing by then (likely).  Meantime, while it still floats my boat, I've been playing around and getting used to this thing.  Already, after two attempts I can see improvement (as in, the second attempt was a vast improvement on the first - though I still have a long way to go). huzzah!

This was my second go at using the tablet:

This photo taken of some friends of ours, by this clever photographer lady x

I would really love to create more of these images, so if you have a particular photo that you would like me to add some illustrations/effects to, please contact me (rutherbrad(at)yahoo(dot)com).  My charges will be low as I am still adapting to this tool, and I am open to all ideas (seeing my kids on the moon proves that anything is possible).  I'm thinking fun invitations & cards for various events.  Maybes.

Yeah, I really didn't have the hang of this yet...

I know this (first attempt) image is pretty rough (though it has it's own kind of childlike charm) but I also thought that some of you guys might be into making your own mothers day cards out of the Moon & Back design, so I have edited out my kiddos faces and you can pop your own kids in there.  I was thinking about printing these onto cards for the grandparents, hopefully I get around to that... (wow, since uploading this to my blog, I have realised how horrendous it really is...  Still, thought I'd leave the option there, and it does look a *tad* less terrible in a smaller size).

Christmas Advent Ideas: Day 13 - Christmas Printables

I made these Christmas printables a while back, using a snowflake of Rosa's illustrating, and a snowglobe I drew ages back.  Paper cup covers and party hats.  I hope the sizing is okay.  I just drew them exactly to size, scanned and added colour, etc.  But technical stuff is not my thing, so if you do print these out, try them in b/w first.

MMM party - favours & printables

With the help of some clever friends, a bit of Pinspiration and my extensive collection of vintage bits and pieces, I really didn't feel the slightest bit of stress over Eleanor's party (other than feeling a tiny bit stressed that I wasn't stressed).  Really.

Favours:
Paper doll stickers and a candy necklace

and handmade (by Alice, not me) flower cookies, packaged in polkadot bags

I kept the favours much more simple this year.  I loved going to all that effort last year, but I wasn't feeling it this time around.

Packaged in glassine bags from Pop Roc Parties, with a little floral bag of old-fashioned sweets to take home too...

I chose the theme several months ago, and ran through lots and lots of ideas for what I might do with it. In the end I referenced the books in these ways: red and yellow jellies (as MMM had at the birthday party she went to), blackberry tea-cups, an Eleanor-as-MMM illustration I created for the invites & printable hats (I never actually sent the invites :-/), and Eleanor's red and white striped dress - which was actually just a happy, thrifted accident.  Other than that, we did our best to stick to a similar era for most of the decorations, which were all from my collection.

Fruit cups, with a little surprise at the bottom

When planning the menu, I stuck to simple and rustic plates (bread & jam, cucumber & cream cheese sandwiches, fruit cups etc).  I created a little board on Pinterest to gather ideas, and sketched out how I thought it would all look set out.  I figured out what decorations/items I would make, and what I would buy, and then designed an invite.  And then I didn't think about it for weeks and weeks.

 Free printables :-)

On the day of the party it was raining so we couldn't do the egg and spoon & sack races I had planned, so I prepared a Pass The Parcel the night before, and when the 3 year olds started getting noisy and restless we played that. No prizes between the layers, and in the centre there was a spotty balloon for each of them.  What followed was six very happy children, who filled the room with balloons, noise and happiness.  Simple.

Some Pinspiration I used:  Toffee Apples with twigs as sticks, Posie Gets Cozy's gorgeous cake, washi tape flags, party hats.
